In the FourX, we use two of the most advanced control platforms in the world — Dynamic Controls LiNX and Curtiss-Wright R-net. That choice is intentional. It is not about following trends. It is about understanding that different users, environments, and markets demand different strengths.

On snow, sand, or uneven terrain, the chair keeps tracking straighter with less correction. The system smooths out imbalances before the user even feels them. It feels intuitive. Fluid. Almost predictive.

R-net approaches the problem differently. It relies on extremely stable current and speed feedback control. When paired with encoder technology, it measures the actual rotational movement of the motors with high precision. This creates very accurate, controlled movement — especially valuable in high-torque situations and when using specialty input devices.

The feeling is slightly different. R-net feels solid and deliberate. It does exactly what it is told, consistently and predictably.

In FourX, terrain matters. In Nordic conditions, adaptive behavior is incredibly valuable. That is one reason LiNX performs exceptionally well in snow and soft outdoor environments.

But in complex rehabilitation cases — where control precision and specialty inputs are critical — R-net’s structured feedback system is often the better tool.

User Interface And Control Experience

LiNX introduced a modern touchscreen-based interface in its higher series controllers. The interaction feels familiar to anyone who uses a smartphone. Profiles, settings, Bluetooth devices — everything is visually structured and easy to navigate.

For users who value digital integration and customization, this is a major advantage. It reduces clutter and makes multi-device control seamless.

R-net takes a different approach. Its CJSM2 controller combines a color display with physical buttons. That tactile feedback is important for many users, especially those who rely on muscle memory or who operate their chair in challenging outdoor environments.

Gloves. Rain. Vibration. Cold weather.

Physical buttons do not misinterpret touch. They respond clearly. That matters in real terrain.

In FourX, usability is never about appearance. It is about reliability in real-world conditions. That is why we offer both options — because user needs vary.


Programming And Fine Tuning Flexibility

No two FourX users are identical. Sensitivity, acceleration curves, braking behavior — everything must be adjustable.

LiNX offers wireless programming via Bluetooth. A technician can adjust parameters live while the user is driving. This shortens the tuning process dramatically. Instead of guessing in a workshop, adjustments can be made in the user’s own environment.

For remote areas, this flexibility is powerful.

R-net uses a more controlled wired programming approach. While less flexible in casual adjustment, it ensures that critical parameters remain in authorized hands. For medical device compliance in many countries, that controlled access is an advantage.

In international markets where regulatory structure and service protocols are strict, R-net’s programming model fits naturally into existing service systems.


Diagnostics And Global Service Reliability

One of the strongest advantages of R-net is global familiarity.

Its fault codes are standardized and recognized worldwide. If a FourX user travels or relocates, local service technicians are highly likely to understand the system immediately.

This is a major reason why R-net remains dominant in export markets.

LiNX, while modern and powerful, is still newer in global penetration. However, its diagnostic tools are visually rich and intuitive. Service professionals can access detailed system data quickly, and in some cases even monitor behavior more dynamically.

In Finland, where we directly support users, LiNX offers flexibility and performance advantages.

Globally, R-net offers universal confidence.


Specialty Controls And Advanced Rehabilitation

For users requiring chin controls, head arrays, sip-and-puff systems, or micro joysticks, compatibility is critical.

R-net’s Omni interface has become an industry reference point for specialty input devices. Many third-party manufacturers design around it. That makes integration straightforward in complex rehab scenarios.

LiNX also supports third-party devices and offers excellent compatibility, especially in its higher 500-series architecture. It provides modern recognition and flexible configuration.
