16 Years Off-Road in the Same FourX Wheelchair

Sixteen years, and still going into the woods
Marco lives in Italy and bought his FourX DL with SSS seat system in 2010. Since then he has taken it into forests and up mountain trails, the kind of ground most powered wheelchairs never see. In August he wrote to us through the website. He needed four new solid tyres.
That was the whole request. But it turned into a longer conversation.

The chair that stopped tilting
After a battery change, Marco's chair started showing an "ISM module error". He could still drive. The seat functions were another matter: tilt, backrest and footrests no longer responded. Marco told us the fault had come and gone for a few months before the seat controls stopped completely.
We talked it through and pointed to the R-Net ISM module as the likely cause. He also asked about tyres for soft ground and decided to stay with pneumatic ones, which suits the terrain he drives in.
A video instead of a service visit
Sending a chair from Italy to Finland for a module swap makes little sense. So we sent Marco a video showing how the ISM module is replaced. He ordered the part, it arrived, and on 29 September he wrote:
"I replaced the part you sent me and it works perfectly. Thanks for your help."
A wheelchair user fixed the electronics of his 16-year-old chair at home, with a video and a new module. Two weeks earlier he had written something we keep thinking about: "Siete persone veramente speciali." You are truly special people.
What we take from this
We build the FourX to be repaired, not replaced. Modules are standard, parts stay available, and a chair from 2010 can still be brought back to full function years later. For someone who depends on a wheelchair to reach the outdoors, that matters more than any spec sheet.
Every customer like Marco is why we answer messages personally and keep spare parts in stock for old models too.
Do you own an older FourX and something has stopped working? Write to us. Chances are we can help you fix it yourself.
